One of the things that has always irked me about pleroma-fe, is how the profile banner is used as a background for the whole user card. This can cause problems with readability of the user bio, depending on the combination of image and theme used.
Take my own profile for example:
![on a dark theme](https://cdn.subcon.town/files/dark.png)
![on a light theme](https://cdn.subcon.town/files/light.png)
Especially on the light theme, the username and handle are poorly readable due to the combination of the image and black text. It's somewhat better with the dark theme, though not great either. The problem only gets worse once you start considering themes with lower contrasts.
I would suggest changing the user card so that the profile banner is actually used as a banner, like in other microblogs like mastodon and misskey. This will also make it easier for a user to get their profile to look more consistent across the different microblogs.
On a side note, if we're to redesign the user card, we might also take into account making it look better in notifications, since it currently is just a squashed mess:
![User card in notifications](https://cdn.subcon.town/files/notif.png)
I'm currently working on a little something to move some of the buttons into the top-right menu to free up more space, but I think this could also be far more condensed if the user card as a whole got a little redesign.https://git.pleroma.social/pleroma/pleroma-fe/-/issues/1110Status preview can stretch the form beyond bounds2023-04-03T20:38:49ZHJStatus preview can stretch the form beyond bounds![Screenshot_20210827_155714](/uploads/17be52dafb51391f8238434c1454a265/Screenshot_20210827_155714.png)![Screenshot_20210827_155714](/uploads/17be52dafb51391f8238434c1454a265/Screenshot_20210827_155714.png)https://git.pleroma.social/pleroma/pleroma-fe/-/issues/1106Sidebar horizontal shift2023-04-03T20:39:42ZHaelwennSidebar horizontal shiftBrowser: Firefox 90.0.2

Currently:
* Disallow following user from remote instances
* Disallow follwing user at all
* Disallow user posts from federating
maybe:
* Deny remote follow requests
* Deny all follow requests
* Deny user posts from federating
but I still don't know if the wording there is clear enough. The ambiguity of whether we're denying the user to follow others or denying others from following the user makes this difficult.
perhaps:
* Sandbox: no remote followers
* Sandbox: no followers
* Sandbox: local-only posting

Solid colors can be derived from theme so they'll work with any theme whereas images require picking a suitable image for whatever theme you're using.
We want to keep the option for users to pick their own background image, as well as for admins to pick a default background image for better customization. The question that pops up is, how do we want to manage situations where instance has a default background image set, user with a custom background removes their image. Does the user get blank background or instance default? We can't really know in advance.
Another thing I was thinking of, when we have the background color, we should be able to let user adjust the opacity of the background image, to blend between a themed background color and a custom personalized background image for a good tradeoff. It would create kind of a weird situation where background image is stored on user but the opacity of it is stored in theme, maybe it's ok?

Benefit: Convenient access to see and interact with events that pertain to you. For a person who isn't easily distracted, this is good.
Drawback: It makes the UI look too busy, whick can be overwhelming for a new user (such as me currently). For someone who's trying to reduce distractions (such as yours truly), the extra timeline isn't good. Also, I find myself dithering between using one or the other, which adds mental overhead.
This is basically a hybrid between a TweetDeck type interface and a Facebook type interface. I imagine that the intent is to have the benefits of both, but it feels more like the UI can't make up its mind about what it wants to be.https://git.pleroma.social/pleroma/pleroma-fe/-/issues/895Show users emailadress somewhere2023-04-03T22:16:55ZIljaShow users emailadress somewhereApparently the users email isn't shown anywhere (or at least, I couldn't find it).
