I know this has been around for a while, but can we get rid of it?

Is there any reason we can't just make the emoji selector insert into the most recently selected text field?

It's complicated and I'm not entirely sure if it would be better or worse from UX perspective.

I think it could become annoying for user to have to remember which field they clicked last and/or do trial-and-error and/or copy paste emoji when added into incorrect field.

at least for me, opening up an emoji picker also focuses the input field, so probably there's less UX problems there.

Otherwise maybe the emoji selector for the main post field could be next to the character counter?

maybe move the character counter to lower left?

i think it looks better on the right side since it's not as connected to the text that way. It's probably possible to move emoji button there, but I think it's not a very good idea since it means button itself will be smaller that way and harder to click especially on mobile.
