Threaded-mode support
Glitchsoc supports a nice "threaded mode" where the compose UI automatically starts a new reply to the previous post each time you hit "post". This is nice for posting a string of short posts that are all replies to the original post.
I acknowledge that Pleroma has excellent support for #longposts but sometimes it feels good to bang out a series of short posts instead. These posts will also federate to non-long-post platforms cough-odoncough slightly better, but really I just like that user-experience sometimes.
@riking@orb.an6.us also made the point that this behavior can be useful for capturing live events while still keeping the posts linked.
Current behavior:
- User enters a post in the compose UI, potentially with a CW
- After posting, the user must click "reply" on the orignal post in order to create a "thread" (sort of awful term from birdsite/glitchsoc
- User must track the original post and click "reply" on that post to continue the "thread"
Proposed behavior:
- User clicks a UI widget turning on "threaded" mode in the compose UI
- User composes and publishes a post
- UI remembers the original post and immediately starts a new post in-reply-to the original post
- As long as "theaded" mode is enabled, each time the user posts, the UI prepares a new post in-reply-to the original post.
- User turns off "threaded" mode when they are done
