Only general description on index page

* Used similar sections as the backend page
* Kept the general explanation and moved a part from the user guide
* I kept the more technical description in the contributer guide because I don't think it really fits in a general description
* I completely removed the block that goes deeper into functionality. This should somehow become part of the user guide, but seems out of scope for now
* The second section also has explicit links to the other pages
