This was a Qvitter feature that I dearly miss. Currently if you expand a post to see the whole thread the only way to undo that is to scroll to the top and hit the collapse button. Sometimes the post you clicked on to expand isn't even near the top and it's not pleasant. It would be nice if I could just click outside of my timeline - perhaps on the background area to just automatically close any open conversations. Alternatively the posts in the conversation could just have a minus button where the plus button would normally be when they aren't expanded and I could just click that.

I didn't see any open issues for this, sorry if it's somehow a duplicate.

The idea behind the request is good (our conversation opening and closing is quite flawed) but the suggested fix like a pretty bad feature, considering so side panel is "outside", and it also makes it impossible to open multiple conversations at once, and also on mobile you don't have any outside on the sides so you still have to scroll to bottom or top to close a conversation.

I wouldn't want to maintain a feature like this even if it's optional.

On desktop, it is possible to open multiple conversation at once. Only clicking background image will collapse conversation.
For mobile, need to find a better UX.

Another idea for mobile: have the header with the text "Conversation" and "Collapse" persist at the top? Or merge with the persistent header that's already there (with the menu icon, instance title and notification bell)?

i believe the merge request (#1885) still did not get merged into develop?
