Images can be upside down sometimes

Bug description
When posted locally, an image appears with the correct orientation on the homeserver:
When viewing the same image from a remote server, it appears upside down:

My first instinct is that this is an exif issue. This does not seem to happen in Chromium, but I can reproduce it in FireFox.
